Is There Really A Generic Form of Viagra?
Viagra is a brand name medication produced by the Pfizer Company that contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate. Because the name Viagra was created by this company no one else can use this name even if the product contains the exact same ingredients. For this reason any other company that produces this medication must do so under a different name and most companies choose to simply use the name of the primary ingredient sildenafil citrate.
Although generic Viagra makers claim that this product has the exact same ingredients as the brand name there have been reports that this is untrue. It has been said that there is no approved generic form of Viagra however this does not necessarily mean that the product does not exist only that it has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Unfortunately this also means that the generic product may also not contain the same ingredients as the original product.
In addition to some generic Viagra products not being the same as the name brand produce it has been reported that some of these so called generic alternatives do not even contain the primary ingredient of sildenafil citrate that is used in the production of Viagra.
In the case of these cheap imitations of Viagra there have also been reports that these products are not as effective as original Viagra and in some cases may not even be safe to take due to some of the chemicals that are used in their production.
When you purchase products that claim to be generic equivalents of Viagra it is important to be very cautious so as not to be taken advantage of by scam artists that produce products that are not only ineffective but also dangerous.
Because of the amount of controversy that has been given in the issue of whether generic Viagra actually works many individuals choose to stick with the name brand in an effort to be sure they are getting an effective product.
